Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

This is a little somethin' i cooked up for my creative track application. At EFY, I was always knows for having a flower in my hair. It's since become a bit of a trademark. NYC is one of my favorite places in the world because of the pulse and the beat of the city, and because it's the #1 hotspot for quality, CLASSY, creative advertising. I love the glamour of it all. I can't wait to get to do this for real. and get paid for it! :)

(any criticism is welcome. I really want my portfolio to be an accurate portrayal of what I can do. Plus if you have a cool picture I can play with, that would be awesome. Let me know!)

It's now personal with the "Frenchies"

I'm a generally competitive person. I'm pretty sure it's genetic. I also have a lot of pride for our lovely country of the USA. It's like being on the biggest team in the world who also happens to ROCK at everything. :) I live for the Olympics. For those of you who know, in the Men's 4x100m relay (swimming, not track) the French captain said (and I quote) "The Americans? We're going to smash them. It's what we came for." I'll be honest, when I saw that it was like he said it to me. I got all pseudo black with a "o no he didn't!" So, needless to say, I stayed and watched the Olympics for another 2 hours waiting for the race. The race was quite possibly the most exciting thing I've ever seen just because of the smack talk going on with the athletes. (It even topped the women's 400m freestyle which involved the girl in lane 5 dating the girl in lane 8's ex boyfriend who also happened to post naughty photos of her on the internet. Neither of the girls medaled...I highly suspect it had to do with the drama cause they both took off way too fast for a 400m race) Either way, the smack talk made everything intense. but hey hey! WE WON!!! Eat that Frenchies! We shattered the world record by 4 whole seconds, and beat the French team by .08 of a second. :) hey-.08 seconds faster is still faster. I've never seen a man scream like Michael Phelps did. It was AWESOME. Let's hear it for the true red white & blue. Man I love the Olympics.

(I will also now be cheering for the USA and whoever's against France...my maturity astounds me)

isn't it funny...

how when you find someone you want to be with, everything would be so much more fun with him there? And when he's not there every other couple is obnoxious for being all over each other all the time, when you know that if he were there you'd be obnoxious too. Be careful when you pray for patience...you'll get it.

LOSER STATUS :(

As of recently I have fallen off of my awesome streak of working out, sleeping, and eating right. It's the most frustrating thing in the world when you've been good for a month to let it all go in a few days. UGH! In my defense, my lovely sister Lindsay got me sick last week. I don't think I've been so void of energy in my entire life. I decided that it would be in my best interest to lay off the intense workout regimen for a while and just let my body recover. The thing is, is I'm kind of an all or nothing kind of person. (i.e. when I'm not working out, I'm not focused on sleeping right or eating right either.) Since my stomach wasn't what was sick I have consumed an impressive amount of brownies, otter pops, cheesecake, and cupcakes. I was on a deal with myself where I get sugar on Sundays. It makes me appreciate Sundays. I have something to look forward to. AND it helps save money because I'm not spending money on sugary things throughout the week. (but ask me if I had 2 brownies at lunch today and a taffy at work. yikes) I've bought a chocolate cookbook for this exact reason. The sugar I should be consuming is high quality and indulgent...and only a small amount once a week. Sounds pretty awesome except I have absolutely no will power. I'm still not all the way better, but I've decided I have to workout in some way shape or form and get back on the train. I've also decided that I get absolutely NO junk food until I get back from California. Not that any of you care, but I feel a whole lot better when I write out my plan. :) Here's the plan! I'll bike until I feel up enough to run. I'm in bed by 11 every night. and No junk food until I get back from California. It's doable. I feel so much better when I take care of myself. I also think I need to actually take the vitamins my dear mother sends me. On top of that I need to pack because I'm moving next Friday, finish up the last little bit of Cameron's birthday present, do laundry, go grocery shopping, and figure out how to get myself up to Salt Lake to catch my flight in a couple weeks. I'm sure between then and now I'll have some bankruptcies to input and a new song I feel like learning on the guitar. *phew. My life is kind of overwhelming today. haha. I should probably just start with, "Kristin, get yourself to the gym and avoid the brownies on your counter like the plague."

Humor from the text inbox of Kristin McGuire

"If I could be a dork and dance like you, I'd join the Spice Girls or something."
- Cameron Call

"Kristin, you know the moment I knew we were made for each other was when we both commented on those rims when we were down on the strip."
- Hilary Ashman

"Today i had some regular mike and ikes. It was like eating garbage. Fruity, chewy garbage."
-Moose
(I introduced Moose to the wonders of the blue mike and ike world. I'll be honest, this is a common side effect. Any other kind of mike and ike just doesn't seem to measure up. They're that good.)

"Kristin. Each day you seem to amaze me more than the day before and you become more and more attractive to me. It's making me sick :) but I think it's a good one though. I don't want to throw up. It's more that I want it to never go away ever."
-Cameron Call
(In his defense...this was at like 2 in the morning...Really romantic Cam. Throw up always gets a nice mood. lol)

One step closer to being an actual blogger. :)

So, it's always been my belief that no one wants to read about your life unless you're married. If you'll look, most people who blog are married. Well, I have taken one CRUCIAL step toward becoming a legit blogger.

No, ladies and gentlemen, I'm not getting married (yet.)

But i, Kristin McGuire, have managed to conquer my commitment issues and choose just one male suitor for a while. This came as quite the shock to my relatives who were quite "supportive" offering comments such as, "Wow Kristin, I thought you were more the 'love him and leave him' type" and "He's not a loser is he?" and "just one? you're dating just one guy?!" I don't think it's all that weird. He's fantastic. :)
Meet Cameron Call. My #1. :)

I know, cheesy with the whole "he's still wearing his missionary tag" thing, but this picture makes my knees go weak and a huge grin come across my face every time I see it. heavens. To cover the basics, he turns 22 in August, served his mission in Tennesse and is 6'5''. He plays the piano incredibly well, played football and ran track in high school.

For those of you who don't know the story... Cameron and I met at EFY. We were both counselors in Flagstaff, AZ this summer for a couple of weeks. He thought I was pretty cute, I could barely keep my jaw off the floor when he walked into the room...y'know-healthy attraction. Well, he asked me to teach a lesson with him on Friday, so naturally we have to prepare for it. :) By Saturday, I was pretty bummed out that he was going home to Queen Creek (No comments from the family...I KNOW it's Queen Creek. I've weighed what's at stake though, and I'm pretty sure I can get over my abhorrence for the place...eventually....with counseling.) Cameron left for the weekend, and I didn't really hear from him the whole time. When he came back Sunday night, though, he was awful happy to see me. :) From then on, we were pretty inseperable. Our EFY kids had a blast flirting for us the next week, and the stairwell became our favorite rendezvous after lights out.

The next weekend, he took me out to High School Musical on Broadway down at Gammage Theatre in Mesa. Sunday we went to the temple and saw the reflections of Christ exhibit. (which by the way is AMAZING)

I'm headed down to Phoenix to spend my birthday with him. (as his birthday is the day after mine, it's incredibly convenient :)) We're currently trying to outdo each other with our birthday presents for each other. All I have to say is he doesn't stand a chance. :)

We'll drive back up to Provo to start up school again at BYU together. and it's only 20 days 2 hours 38 minutes until my flight lands!!! (not that I'm counting or anything.)
